Russian cyberattacks on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure should equate to war crimes, Ukraine said. Ukraine is gathering evidence of Russian cyberattacks linked to military strikes, per Politico. The coordinated efforts directly impact Ukrainian civilians, said Ukraine’s top cyber official.
That’s because it’s virtually impossible to get societal leadership to do anything about it unless they are forced to.
The White House wants expanded requirements for private companies that operate in critical infrastructure sectors. Good. Excellent. Faster! Make it work. Get er done!! Act like we are at war.
The new $1.7 trillion omnibus spending law includes a 12% budget increase for the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency in an effort to secure the nation’s IT infrastructure better. It’s a move in the right direction if the money is spent wisely and not wasted.
Nothing is free. Something else is afoot.
